Near Gosha Gala your walking tour will start. Stroll the medieval heart of Baku the Icheri sheher castle, discovering the mysteries and legends of Icheri Sheher (Old Town). Learn about the ruling dynasty of Azerbaijan lived in 11-14 centuries by visiting the Shirvanshah’s Palace, which is the biggest monument of Shirvan-Apsheron Azerbaijan architecture school. The complex contains the main building of the palace, Divanhane, the burial-vaults, the shah mosque with a minaret, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi’s mausoleum, a portal in the east – Murad’s gate, a reservoir and the remnants of the bathhouse. You will leap back in time by taking a little walk before visiting the Maiden Tower. The Maiden Tower also is known locally as Giz Galasi, located in the Old City, Baku, in Azerbaijan, was built in the 12th century. Together with the Shirvanshahs’ Palace, it forms an ensemble of historic monuments inscribed in 2001 under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments as cultural property. Juma Mosque Located in the historic Icheri Sheher, the mosque has been rebuilt several times. The present Friday Mosque was built in 1899 under the financing of Baku merchant Haji Shikhlali Dadashov. A minaret, constructed in 1437, adjoins Friday Mosque.
After climbing the Maiden’s Tower for some orientating views, wander randomly in the alleyways of İçəri Şəhər, making an active attempt to get lost. You’re never more than a few minutes’ walks from the fortified perimeter wall, and this way you get to absorb some of the atmosphere of the real Old City, small corners of which remain delightfully ‘lived-in’ despite the encroachment of neo historical office buildings and multiplying carpet sellers.
Your tour starts at Atashgah (Fire Temple) which located in the village Suraxani 30 km away from Baku. It is situated on a rock where natural emergences of gas on the surface have been burning for thousands of years. Here you will learn more about one of the most remarkable Zoroastrian temples which were actually built by 18th-century Indian Shiva devotees.
